Exhausted from a long day of classes, Riley relaxed against a non-violent tree with books scattered around her outstretched legs. There was just something enjoyable about her new perch, even with the impending loom of a mountain of homework trying to topple over her life. It sucked, but what else could she really do? Riley's oldest sister had warned her about the work that came with being a fifth year, the O.W.L.s at the end of the year used to scare students into stupors before the exams were even started. In her own opinion, it was all a bunch of bullocks, but again, what could she do about it? Things had been the way they were for years, it wasn't like the school board was about to change anything now, especially with her mother as a lucky school governor.
Glancing around at her surroundings Riley realized that everyone else outside was either older, or younger, than herself. Or at least she didn't recognize any as being from her classes. Were the pressures of the year already weighing on her peers? How sucky for everyone if that was the case, would that mean less parties this year?
Okay, she knew she was the kind of person to put herself out there as a stupid party princess most of the time, but she did care about her grades. The fact that a low grade could affect her entire life and what options she had in the future was a little scary. With her mum breathing down her neck to do her best, it made life that much more difficult at times, but she was totally spot on with this particular worry.
Setting a bit of parchment and her quill off to the side, Riley stared out at the others relaxing that afternoon, choosing to people watch instead of worry herself sick over the essay she was supposed to be writing. And as she sat there, eyes glazing over at the boring scene her eyes were taking in, one particular person made her burst out in laughter. What was she up to now?
